Description This clinic will focus on open water swimming techniques and strategies to help you be a more efficient open water swimmer! Learn techniques for various open water swimming starts, sighting buoys, pack swimming, how to deal with the unexpected, and how to navigate an open water swim course and much more! You will practice what you’ve learned to navigate an open water swim course ~ 500 - 750 yds.
Details When: Sunday, August 8th, 2010, Time: 8:00-10:00 AM Where: Gunpowder State Park, Hammerman Beach Area, Chase, MD
Directions: From I-95 take exit 67A for Route 43 east (White Marsh Boulevard). Follow 43 to route 40 east. After turning onto Route 40, turn right at the first light onto Ebenezer Road and follow it for 4.5 miles. The park entrance will be on your left. The physical address is 7200 Graces Quarters, Chase, MD 21027. We will meet at the Windsurfing Beach Area.
NOTES: The park will open at 8:00 AM. Arrive a little early so that you can promptly enter the park at 8:00 AM. There is fee to enter the Park: MD-residents $3/person; out-of-state residents $4/person. Please follow the main road to the Windsurfing beach area (first beach/swimming area) and bring your equipment with you (see below).
What to Bring: Photo ID, your swim suit or Tri-Suit, goggles, hair ties for long hair, swimming cap (will be provided), two towels, sunscreen, water bottle filled with water, a small snack to eat after, and a change of clothes. Showers and changing rooms are available on site. Wetsuits (made for swimming not diving) are optional. Water temperatures will be warm enough for non-wetsuit swim.
Requirements: Must be able to swim 500 yds continuously.
Inclement weather policy: This event will be held rain or shine, in case of extreme weather conditions such as thunderstorms or unsafe swimming conditions as determined by the event organizers and or officials the event will be cancelled. No refunds.
