Date: Sunday, June 20, 2010 Time: 7:00 ‐7:30AM ‐ Registration and Bike Check 7:30‐9:00 AM – Triathlon Racing Clinic 9:00‐11‐ish AM – Practice Sprint Triathlon
Where: Clemens Crossing Pool 6400 Martin Rd. Columbia, Md. 21044
Parking: Seventh Day Adventist Church located ~1 block past Clemens Crossing Pool on the left side of Martin Road. Use the parking area to the RIGHT at the top of the drive way where it splits right/left. Please do not park in the pool parking lot, on Martin Road, or Quarterstaff Road.
Registration: You will check in on the grass transition area field next to the pool. Bring your photo ID, and USAT membership card (if an annual member), CA membership card (if a member) to Check In. You MUST show photo identification. You MUST show a valid USAT membership card or purchase a $10 one day USAT member pass. No exceptions. If interested in signing up for a yearly USAT membership for $39, please visit www.usatriathlon.org prior to the event and print off a temporary card. You will receive an event bag that contains your race numbers for the Sprint Triathlon, swim cap from Cy’s, race belt and lock laces shoe ties and other goodies.
Bike Check: Mechanics from RACE PACE bicycles in Columbia will be there to check your bike and bike helmet for safety. Please be sure your bike and helmet are in good working order prior to the event. If your bike and/or bike helmet is not safe for riding on roads then you will not be able to participate in the bike portion of the triathlon. The mechanics will be able to help with minor problems but please have your bike ready to ride.

What to Bring Check List:
- Photo Identification
- Valid USAT annual membership card (or $10 for one‐day pas)
- CA membership card (if applicable)
- Swimsuit or Tri‐suit
- Goggles
- Swim cap (will be provided)
- Hair‐ties for long hair
- Bike in good working condition
- Bike helmet in good condition (no cracks)
- Bike pack with essentials for changing a flat (extra tube, tire levers, and pump or CO2
- cartridge)
- Bike shorts to wear over swim suit
- Shirt or tank top to wear over swim suit
- Shoes for biking
- Sunglasses
- Sunscreen
- Socks
- Shoes for running
- Visor or hat for the run
- 1‐2 water bottles filled with water or your favorite sports drink
- Other nutritionals/snack that you may need
- 2 Towels
- Water proof sports watch (optional)
- Wetsuit (optional)
- Change of clothes
- A SMILE and “I CAN DO IT” attitude!!
Do NOT bring
- Glass items
- IPODs or MP3 players
Prior to Event: Pack everything the night before. Eat a healthy dinner and stay well hydrated through the day on Saturday. Get to bed early. Sunday morning eat a light non‐sugary carb breakfast, something that you are used to eating (ie bagel, banana with peanut butter) and drink 16‐20oz. water or healthy sports drink 1‐2 hrs. prior to arrival. Keep drinking at least 8oz. fluids every 15‐30min. (especially if it is hot and humid). Water will provided for you to fill up your water bottles. Apply sunscreen at home and be sure it dries before putting on your clothes.
Event Time Schedule
6:30‐7:00 AM ‐ Arrive at the venue and park at the Church located on Martin road one block down from the pool on the left side. Park in the area to the right when the driveway splits.
7:00‐7:30 AM ‐ Check in at the registration desk, receive event packet, and wave assignment. Check bike and helmet with the mechanic from RACE PACE. Proceed to Transition Area and find your number. This is your transition space. You will be body marked with your number for the practice triathlon.
7:45 AM – Event Meeting in the transition area
8:00‐9:00 AM – Triathlon Racing Clinic Wave 1 Pool area for open for water swimming techniques Wave 2 Transition area for transition practice/racing techniques After 30 minutes groups switch.
9:00‐9:15 AM – Pre‐Triathlon Meeting
9:15‐11:00 – PRACTICE TRIATHLON
9:15 AM WAVE 1 starts
9:30 AM WAVE 2 starts
Course Distances: 500 yd Swim: You will complete 6 loops of an open water swim course in a pool. See swim course map. 12 mile Bike: 6 loops of a 2 mile bike course on neighborhood roads. Please see bike course map; Start on Quarterstaff Road, right turn on Cardinal Lane, right turn on Owen Brown Road, right turn on Audubon lane, right turn on Martin Rd, right turn on Quarterstaff Road. The roads will be open to traffic. Volunteers will be located at every turn. You must obey all traffic laws and yield to motor vehicles. PLEASE BE SAFE! 2 mile Run: 2 loops of a 1 mile out and back course on trails and walking paths. There will be one water stop on the run. You will pass the water stop 3 times. See run course map.
Note: You may shorten any of the distances above but please let us know in advance if possible.

Inclement weather policy: This event will be held rain or shine, in case of extreme weather conditions such as thunderstorms or unsafe swimming conditions as determined by the event organizers and or officials the event will be modified or cancelled. No refunds.
